Disney World Theme Parks

Secret tips and reviews of Walt Disney World Theme Parks

Walt Disney World is a massive 43 mile square resort.  If you're wondering how many disney theme parks are in the world, there are four main parks: Magic Kingdom, Epcot, MGM Studios and Animal Kingdom.  There are also numerous other attractions, including two water parks, shops, restaurants, clubs and golf, and thousands of hotel rooms, within the Disney World Resort.

It is difficult to imagine the scope of Disney World, if you have never visited, and even more difficult to imagine doing everything there.  Even after several visits, it is physically impossible to do everything.  To see the bulk of the main Walt Disney World attractions, you need to allow yourself at least six days, preferably with rest days in between.  We recommend spending at four half days at the Magic Kingdom, four half days in Epcot, two half days in MGM and two half days in the Animal Kingdom.

We know that not everyone has that much vacation time, so please check out the guides to each park below, to decide on your Disney World "must do's".

Disney World Theme Park Descriptions: Magic Kingdom

The Magic Kingdom theme park in Walt Disney world is massive 107 acres.  The park has a maximum visitor capacity of 100,000 people, although you would not want to be in the Magic Kingdom when it was full to capacity.  Upon entering the park, you'll proceed down the magical Main street.  Here you will find an array of shops including a barbers shop and bakery.  The aroma wafting from the bakery is so enticing that you may struggle to walk by without being tempted inside.

At the end of Main Street, you'll come to a hub, and the direction you take will depend upon which part of this Walt Disney World Theme Park you want to explore first.  Go straight ahead through the castle, if you want to visit Fantasyland and Toontown Fair.  Bear left for Adventureland, Frontierland and Liberty Square and take a right turn for the Magic Kingdom's Tomorrowland.

Disney World Theme Park Descriptions:  Epcot

Epcot was the second theme park to be built in Walt Disney World.  The theme park consists of two sections, World Showcase and Future World.  Future world is home to many of Walt Disney Worlds top attractions, including Test Track and Mission Space, and is dominated by the massive silver ball, which contains the popular Spaceship Earth attraction.

The World Showcase houses many theme park replicas of individual countries, including France, China, Italy and the UK.  Here, you can dine in wonderful restaurants in one of the pavillions.  My favourite is Le Cellier in Canada.

Disney World Theme Park Descriptions:  Disney Studios

Disney Studios is much smaller than the Magic Kingdom and Epcot theme parks, and it is quite possible to tour it in a day.  The attractions and themeing here are based on hollywood and the movies, and include Star Wars, the Great Movie Ride and Tower of Terror.  There are also some great restaurants here, including the Sci-Fi Diner and The Hollywood Brown Derby.  Also, don't miss the evening disney fireworks display - Fantasmic.

Disney World Theme Park Descriptions:  Animal Kingdom

The Animal Kingdom theme park is Walt Disney World's answer to an elaborate zoo.  Set in a lush tropical environment, the Animal Kingdom is an unmissable part of your Walt Disney World vacation.  Don't miss the Kilimanjaro Safari.  This is the closest you could come to seeing animals in there natural habitat without taking a real safari.  There are few sit down restaurant choices in the Animal Kingdom, but there is a great Rainforest Cafe at the entrance to the theme park.
